Specialist with Experience in Banking Supervision (m/w/d)

You enjoy tackling complex issues in banking? As a member of a supervisory team, you will face a diverse range of tasks.

The FINMA supervises the financial market. It protects the interests of investors, creditors, and policyholders while contributing to the stability and competitiveness of financial market players. Every day, over 800 competent and motivated employees are committed to this goal.

Main Tasks

  • Responsibility for supervising a portfolio of asset management or retail and commercial banks of medium size.
  • Proactive, critical, risk-oriented, and timely monitoring using all available information.
  • Assessment of the risk situation, analysis of underlying causes, and development and implementation of measures.
  • Primary internal and external contact for supervised institutions at all hierarchical levels (e.g., board management of banks).
  • Critical assessment of risk analyses and elaboration or approval of audit strategies of external audit firms.
  • Participation in on-site inspections, conducting business model analyses, and collaborating with internal entities.

Profile

  • University degree in business administration, higher education in finance, or equivalent qualifications (e.g., certified public accountant).
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in banks (e.g., risk management or internal audit) or auditing firms with in-depth knowledge of banking business and financial market law.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in using standardized methods for structured problem-solving.
  • High communication skills, empathetic and persuasive conversations at both internal and external management levels.
  • Assertiveness, flexibility, and a team-oriented, conscientious, and committed working style.
  • Excellent German (C2) and very good English (C1) skills, as well as good knowledge of French or Italian (C1).
