Specialist in Finance and Accounting

The finance department is looking for a personality as a Specialist in Finance and Accounting at 60-80% as of November 1, 2026, or by mutual agreement. As part of a dedicated team, you will independently manage financial accounting in the context of mandates and prepare financial statements within the Swiss Red Cross in Switzerland.

Tasks

• Independently lead financial accounting (accounts payable, receivable, general ledger)
• Manage cost accounting including cost center and cost carrier evaluations
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements according to Swiss GAAP FER
• Responsible for VAT returns
• Create budgets and financial evaluations
• Point of contact for financial and accounting questions of Red Cross member organizations
• Further develop and optimize financial processes and participate in finance-related topics and projects
• Provide occasional support to the team in accounts payable workflow

Requirements

• Education as a Financial and Accounting Specialist with federal diploma or comparable training
• Several years of professional experience in accounting with in-depth bookkeeping knowledge; ideally with experience in closing according to Swiss GAAP FER
• High IT affinity and confident handling of MS Office, especially Excel; knowledge of Business Central is advantageous
• Independent and accurate working style as well as pronounced team capability
• Very good German or Swiss German skills (C1/C2) as well as good knowledge of the other language (B2); English skills (B2)
